How to Care for Marble Countertops

In this article, we will focus on our marble countertops, going over a few tips on how to keep them in great shape.

  • Minimize Exposure to Acid – Our first tip for taking care of your marble countertops is to keep acidic substances away from them as much as possible, as acids can etch into the surface. Always use a cutting board to cut acidic foods such as tomatoes or citrus fruit, and for extra protection, place a dishtowel or other barrier underneath as well. In addition, avoid using acidic cleaning agents such as vinegar on your marble countertops.
  • Use Non-Abrasive Soap – When cleaning your marble countertops, avoid using abrasive soaps, and use gentle cleaners instead. Marble is a relatively soft stone, so abrasive substances can wear it away. A gentle soap and some warm water should be enough to keep your marble countertops clean and beautiful.
  • Seal and Re-Seal – Lastly, we recommend getting your marble countertops re-sealed every year. Our team will seal your marble counters before installation, but that seal will gradually wear off and leave the stone underneath vulnerable to the dangers we described above. Renewing the seal will keep the stone safe and ensure it continues to look its best.
